Hand Rankings

A "hand" is the best five cards you have. In the after all the rounds of betting are done, the players turn their cards over and the person with the best hands wins the pot. If there is a tie, the person with the highest "kicker" wins. The kicker is your highest card that wasn't part of the tie.If there is a tie that can't be resolved by the kicker, the pot is split equally. Remember you can only use five cards so if you tie someone with a straight and you have a higher kicker it is still a split pot. Also another key thing to remember is the higher ranks beat the lower ranks. An Ace is the highest possible rank but can also be used as a one. For instance if there was a pair of kings vs a pair of sevens the kings would win. In the case of straights, higher straights beat lower straights. For example a 8,9,10,J,Q would beat out a 6,7,8,9,10. In the case of flushes, the one with the highest flush wins. a A,J,8,6,4 of spades would beat a K,J,8,6,4 of spades. One more thing to know, the suits of the cards are all equal. Now that you have a basic understanding for the hand rankings, lets see what beats what.
